The Lady Bison return seven letterwinners from last season's 11-20 (6-10 MEAC) squad that advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament quarterfinals
and welcome six freshman and one transfer to this year's team. Howard is led by redshirt sophomore
Te'Shya Heslip. The
2014 MEAC All-Rookie selection is the team's returning leader in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals and minutes.
UNC returns the bulk of its team that went 27-10 and made it to the Elite Eight in 2013-14. The Tar Heels are led by sophomore guard Allisha Gray, who averaged 13.9 PPG and 5.5 RPG as a freshman. The game will mark the first regular season game since 2012-13 for longtime Carolina head coach Sylvia Hatchell, who missed all of 2013-14 while battling cancer.
