Volleyball Narrowly Edged By Bucknell In Battle of the Bison

Box Score WASHINGTON, DC --- Howard University Volleyball and Bucknell University played the first five-set match of the season at Burr Gymnasium, even taking the deciding set to extra points. However, the "Battle of the Bison" would go Bucknell's way as Howard dropped the marathon non-conference match, 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 19-17).

Freshman Katherine Broussard set a season-high of 27 kills and added 13 digs for Howard (15-7 / 4-1 MEAC).

Junior Stephanie Shultis had 57 assists, one off of her season best 58 from the team's match at Morgan State. Junior Assata Conway also put away double-digit attacks, registering 18 kills, while junior Allyson Lods led the defensive effort in digs with 17- one of five players with 10+ digs.

In such an intense match up, Howard was done in by unforced mistakes. The team had three times as many service errors (18 to 6) and over five times as many ball handling errors 
(11 to 2) as Bucknell (8-9 / 1-6 Patriot League).

The Bucknell volleyball team earned a win in its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday evening, taking a 3-2 victory (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 19-17) over Howard in a marathon match in Burr Gymnasium. Bucknell lifts its overall record to 8-9 (1-6 Patriot League) with the triumph, while Howard falls to 15-7 (5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with the loss.

Howard will return to MEAC North Division play when the Lady Bison host Morgan State on Friday, October 18 at 'The Burr." First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
