LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (August 28, 2026) – Howard University men's soccer team fell on the road at Rider Friday night, 2-0, in Lawrenceville, N.J.
Chiemeka Azuunwa put Rider ahead at the 22-minute mark, thanks to an unassisted goal.
For nearly 50 minutes, both squads held scoreless until Carter Schmitz found Emmanuel Dan-Adokiene for an insurance goal at the 74-minute mark.
Overall, HU took six shots in the match with junior midfielder
Zach Simmons (Rockwall, Texas) recording a team-high three shots on goal. Fellow classmate midfielder
Corey James (Bethlehem, Pa.) had two shots attempts while All-NEC selection junior forward
Daniil Kaban (Kharkiv, Ukraine) took a shot in the loss.
Senior goalkeeper
Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.) notched four saves in a losing effort.
Overall, eight Bison played all 90 minutes.
HU returns to action Sunday (Sept. 6), taking on Manhattan in a nonconference clash. Match time is slated for noon.
