Mansfield Selected for Prestigious NCAA Pathway Program

Senior-level administrator selected for premier professional development initiative

WASHINGTON (June 23, 2026) – Howard University Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator Chevonne Mansfield has been selected as one of 21 senior-level administrators nationwide to participate in the prestigious 2026-27 NCAA Pathway Program. The announcement came Monday afternoon (June 22).
 
The NCAA Pathway Program is a premier professional development initiative designed to prepare senior athletics administrators for positions as directors of athletics or conference commissioners. Over the course of the year-long program, participants engage in an intensive curriculum focused on leadership, institutional governance, financial management, risk mitigation and strategic planning while building vital connections with current industry leaders.
 
"It is an honor to represent Howard University in the 2026-27 NCAA Pathway Program," Mansfield said. "To be recognized alongside some of the most talented senior administrators in the country is a true honor. This opportunity will allow me to further hone my leadership skills as we navigate an evolving collegiate athletics landscape."
 
At Howard, Mansfield oversees budget and fiscal operations and all external areas, including marketing, communications, ticket operations and fan engagement. She also serves as the sport administrator for women's soccer, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis and softball while acting as a liaison to university offices, including Student Affairs, Title IX, Risk Management and Development & Alumni Relations.
 
Mansfield brings nearly 20 years of diversified leadership experience spanning NCAA Division I athletic departments, conference offices and national organizations. Her career includes serving as Interim Athletics Director at Florida Memorial University during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with holding strategic communications roles at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), LEAD1 Association (FBS Athletics Directors Association), American Conference, Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). She began her career as an assistant sports information director at Howard.
 
A native of Long Island, New York, Mansfield holds a bachelor's degree from St. John's University (N.Y.) and a master's degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies at Howard University where her research focuses on Black economic mobility, the racial wealth gap and NIL access for HBCU student-athletes.
 
Mansfield is a graduate of the Dr. Charles Whitcomb NCAA Leadership Institute and the Women Leaders in Sports Institute for Administrative Advancement.
