BALTIMORE (April 12, 2026) – Howard University softball rolled past rival Morgan State (MSU), 8-0 (f/5), in a MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) clash Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, HU completed the season sweep against MSU.
Juniors
Cheyenne Castille (Eastvale, Calif.) and
Makyia Taylor (Temecula, Calif.) led the Bison attack with two hits apiece.
Howard produced three runs in the first and held a 3-0 advantage through four innings of play.
Top five, reigning MEAC Player of the Year graduate
Taylor Ames-Alexander (Lancaster, S.C.) doubled the score with a three-run homer to left field, 6-0. Moments later, Taylor drilled a two-run blast over the left fence and gave HU a commanding 8-0 advantage.
Morgan State started a rally in its final at-bat, but senior
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) closed the door with a pair of strikeouts.
In the circle, Holt and fellow classmate
Destiny Calloway (Evington, Va.) combined for the shutout. The Virginia native got the starting nod, tossing 3.0 innings with two strikeouts, while the Arizona product threw 2.0 innings with five Ks.
Cassie White and Millie Cousins led the Lady Bears with two hits each in a losing effort.
Howard returns to action Wednesday (April 15) with a road matchup at Big Ten opponent Maryland. First pitch is set for 6 p.m., in College Park, Md.
