NORFOLK, Va. (March 30, 2026) — The Howard University women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over reigning MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Champion South Carolina State Monday morning at the ODU Folkes Stevens Tennis Center.
HU swept all three doubles matches, setting the tone early and securing the opening point.
Serving as the top doubles team, the duo of junior
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman
Camille Hall (Bowie, Md.) won, 6-3.
The No. 2 doubles squad, freshman
Franchesca Brown (Atlanta) and junior
Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.), won, 7-6.
The No. 3 doubles team, junior
Dana Hall (Miami) and freshman
Chloe Goins (Burr Ridge, Ill.), secured a 6-3 victory.
The Bison kept this momentum in the singles matches, winning four-of-the-six matches.
Jean led in the No. 1 singles slot with a straight-set victory (7-5, 6-1), followed by another sweep by Brown (6-1, 6-1).
Hall earned the Bison another point at No. 3 (6-2, 6-4), finished by Goins's straight-set victory (7-5, 6-1).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Thursday (April 2), both teams play Loyola (Md.) in a nonconference matchup. The match will be at the McClure Tennis Center, starting at 2 p.m.
