NORFOLK, Va. (March 29, 2026) – Howard University women's tennis team suffered its first MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) loss of the season against Norfolk State (NSU), 5-2, at Folkes Stevens Tennis Center, home of Old Dominion.
Despite the setback, junior
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and rookie
Chloe Goins (Burr Ridge, Ill.) grabbed singles victories Sunday morning. Jean rallied from an early match deficit to win in three sets against NSU's Daroszewska Julia (3-6, 6-4, 6-3). For Goins, the Illinois native topped Norfolk State's Elena Martinez Prado in straight sets (6-4, 6-2).
Third-year Bison
Dana Hall (Miami) and
Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.) battled, but fell in three sets, respectively.
NSU won the other two singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles competition, Oliver and freshman standout
Franchesa Brown (Atlanta) knocked off the Spartans' Daroszewska and Sabadie Ines, 6-2.
Norfolk State took an early 1-0 match lead into singles play after winning the other two doubles matchups.
Monday (March 30), HU wraps up the MEAC Round Up against defending conference champion South Carolina State. First-serve at 11 a.m.
