Howard Defeats Radford 11–10, Earns First Non-HBCU Win Since 2011

Walker’s Five Goals Power Historic Victory at Greene Stadium

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Howard earned a historic 11–10 victory over Radford (0-4) on Sunday at Greene Stadium, marking the program's first win over a non-HBCU opponent since 2011 and just the sixth overall victory for the program during that span.

The Bison (1–4) were powered by a dominant performance from graduate standout Sawyer Walker (Rehoboth Beach, DE), who scored five goals and controlled 16 draws.

Howard struck first with two opening-quarter goals from Walker to take a 2–0 lead. Radford answered in the second quarter, but the Bison responded behind Walker's hat trick and a free-position goal from Gabrielle Nelson (Cincinnati, OH) to carry a 5–3 advantage into halftime.

Radford surged in the third quarter to tie the game at 7–7, but Howard answered each challenge. Vanessa Ronsholdt (Stafford, VA ) scored off an assist from twin Chloe Ronsholdt (Stafford, VA ), and standout rookie Leah Croom (Falmouth, MA) added a man-up goal to keep the Bison even heading into the fourth.

The final quarter delivered the separation Howard needed.

Croom opened the frame to make it 8–7. After Radford tied the game, Walker scored back-to-back goals in an 11-second span to give the Bison a 10–8 edge.

Radford cut the deficit to one late, but Rylie Davis (Houston, TX) converted a critical free-position goal with 2:29 remaining to extend the lead to 11–9.

Radford added a late score and had a final opportunity in the closing seconds, but Howard's defense held firm to secure the milestone victory.

Croom finished with two goals, Lima added a goal and an assist, Nelson scored once, Davis tallied a goal, and Ronsholdt added one. Goalkeeper London James-Golas (Annapolis, MD) recorded eight saves in the net.

Next, Howard will travel to New York, NY on March 4 at 3 PM to face Columbia.
