BURKE, Va. (February 28, 2026) – Howard University women's tennis team earned its first win of the season, taking down DMV rival George Mason, 4-2, in Burke, Va.
HU won four singles matches, led by rookie standout
Franchesca Brown (Atlanta) serving in the No. 2 singles slot. The Atlanta native topped Mason's Diksha Matiree Rout in straight sets (6-3, 6-1).
Lone senior
Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis), junior
Dana Hall (Miami) and freshman
Camille Hall (Bowie, Md.) also won their respective singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles competition, Brown and third-year Bison
Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.) knocked off the Patriots' Brooklyn Siegel and Maya Bayat, 6-2.
George Mason (4-2) held an early 1-0 match lead after doubles play, but the Bison rebounded with four victories in singles matchups.
On March 10, HU (1-5) meets rival Hampton in a neutral site match for Spring Break. First-serve is scheduled for 11 a.m., in Orlando, Fla.
