WESTON, Fla. – Howard University women's golf earned a second-place finish at the Arcis HBCU Championship at Weston Hills Country Club (Players Course – White), posting a three-round total of 790 (+70) February 21st - 23rd. The Bison carded rounds of 304, 322, and 164 to finish just four strokes behind team champion North Carolina A&T (786, +66).
Howard opened the tournament with a strong 304 (+16) in Round One, followed by a 322 (+34) in Round Two before bouncing back with a steady 164 (+20) in Monday's final round to secure the runner-up spot.
Senior
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the way, competing both in the team lineup and individually. Franklin posted rounds of 75 and 79 before closing with a 40 in the final round. As an individual, she finished third overall, highlighted by her opening-round 75, which included a 37 on the back nine.
Sophomore
Lena Durette (Scottsdale, AZ) delivered one of the Bison's best rounds of the weekend with a 74 in Round One (34 front nine), adding consistency throughout the event.
Junior
Paris Fieldings (Chesapeake, VA) carded rounds of 76 and 81, while senior
Morgan Horrell (Dallas, TX) added scores of 83 and 79. Sophomore
Laniah Moffett (Waterbury, CT) contributed key strokes across the three rounds, including a 79 in Round Two.
As a team, Howard recorded two sub-310 rounds and finished ahead of Texas Southern (+79) and Alabama State (+81) in a competitive eight-team field.
The Bison now turn their attention to hosting the annual Lady Bison Intercollegiate in Gainesville, Fla., March 1–3.
