GENEVA, Ohio (February 17, 2026) — The Howard University women's swimming & diving team opened the 2026 NEC Swimming & Diving Championships with a strong showing Tuesday night at the SPIRE Institute, currently sitting in second place with 141 team points. The Bison finished runner-up at last year's championships and are firmly in contention again.
Howard captured gold in the 200-yard medley relay to highlight the opening session. Juniors Chanice Posada (Houston), Rhanishka Gibbs (Nassau, Bahamas) and Jasmine Morgan (Chicago) and freshman Zenya Posada (Norwalk, Conn.) teamed up for a winning time of 1:41.34, earning 40 points.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Z. Posada and fellow classmates Alyssa Napier (Wilmington, Del.) and Julianna Gibson (Elk Grove, Calif.) and senior Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) placed second with a time of 7:30.35, collecting 34 points to keep the Bison within striking distance of the lead.
On the diving boards, junior Jala Wilson (Richmond, Va.) advanced to the championship final of the 3-meter event, contributing key team points in the early stages of the meet.
The championships continue through Feb. 20 as the Bison aim to climb the standings and compete for the NEC title.
