ERIE, Pa. (September 28, 2025) – Howard University women's soccer shut out Mercyhurst (0-9-2, NEC 0-2-1), 2-0, Sunday at Saxon Stadium in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The win moves the Bison to 4-4-2 overall and extends their NEC (Northeast Conference) unbeaten streak to three (2-0-1).
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) was the star of the day, scoring both goals for Howard. Her first goal came in the 18
th minute with an unassisted shot to the low right corner of the goal, giving the Bison an early lead, 1-0. Just two minutes later, Garcia-Terrell struck again in the 21
st minute to double Howard's lead, 2-0, capping off a dominant offensive stretch. The Virginia native led with a game-high seven shots with six on target.
The Bison kept their foot on the gas offensively, outshooting Mercyhurst, 18-11, with 11 shots on goal.
Despite Mercyhurst's efforts to respond, Howard's defense remained composed, stunting the Lakers' attempts to create clear chances. Defensively, Howard limited the Lakers to just four shots on frame with goalkeeper
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) making four saves to secure the clean sheet.
The Bison are back on the pitch Sunday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m., when they host Delaware State in their Breast Cancer Awareness game.
