Women’s Soccer Holds Off Late Delaware State Rally

Garcia-Terrell’s Early Goals Propel Bison to Third Straight Victory

WASHINGTON (October 5, 2025) – Howard University women's soccer held on for a 3-2 win over conference opponent Delaware State (DSU) Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium.

The Bison improved to 5‑4‑2 overall (3‑0‑1 NEC), extending their win streak to three while the Hornets fell to 3‑7‑3 (1‑3‑1 NEC).

Reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week, Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.), opened the scoring early with a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. The Virginia native doubled Howard's advantage in the 30th minute, converting a PK (penalty kick) into a 2-0 lead before halftime.

Shortly after the break, Demi Owens (Teaneck, N.J.) extended the lead, 3-0, with a composed finish assisted by Maya Blackston (Alexandria, Va.).

DSU fought back late in the second half, scoring twice in a five-minute span, 3-2. The sudden charge induced Howard's defense to tighten the reins.

Howard held the edge in multiple stat categories, outshooting Delaware State, 20–7, including a 14-7 advantage in shots on goal. Leading the way offensively, Garcia-Terrell paced Howard with four shots (three on goal), followed by Owens with three.

Freshman goalkeeper Sienna Hamilton-Grein (Upper Marlboro, Md.) recorded four saves in the victory.

The Bison hit the road to face Le Moyne Thursday (Oct. 9) at 2 p.m.
