WASHINGTON (September 25, 2025) – Howard University women's soccer secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over visiting Wagner College Thursday night at Greene Stadium.
With the win, the Bison improved to 3-4-2 overall (1-0-1 NEC) while the Seahawks dropped to 2-2-5 (1-1-1 NEC).
After nearly 80 minutes of scoreless action, the match quickly turned into a back-and-forth battle. Wagner broke the deadlock in the 78
th minute, 1-0, but the Bison responded just four minutes later when sophomore
Asia Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) netted the equalizer, swinging momentum back in Howard's favor, 1-1.
With the match approaching full time, grad student
Rachel Suttle (Smyrna, Ga.) stepped up with a header goal in the 88
th minute off a well-placed assist from junior
Samantha James (Herndon, Va.), sealing the Bison's first conference win of the season.
Howard held the edge in offensive pressure, outshooting Wagner, 15-7 overall and 5-3 in shots on goal. Mickens-Perez led with a game-high five total shots.

Trinity Knox (Atlanta) made three saves to earn the win and her 200
th career save.
The contest was a physical one, with three Bison—Mickens-Perez,
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) and
Mia Young (Sunrise, Fla.) —receiving yellow cards late in the second half.
Thursday's result marks Howard's third outright win over Wagner since 2021.
Howard returns to road action this weekend for another key NEC (Northeast Conference) matchup, taking on Mercyhurst Sunday (Sept. 28) in Erie, Pa. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
