WASHINGTON - Howard men's soccer (0-5-1) fell 5-0 at Greene Stadium in Saturday afternoon's matchup against the Delaware Blue Hens (6-0).
Howard held the Blue Hens in place for 18 minutes, blocking seven shots before Delaware sent one into the net.
Howard's first scoring opportunity came in the 32nd minute when
Justin Mims got his foot on the ball and took a shot to the low center. Meanwhile, the Bison defense kept the Blue Hens busy, allowing only one more shot before the half. The scoreboard remained 1-0.
After halftime, the Bison came out with renewed tenacity, notching five attacks in just under five minutes. However, the Blue Hens responded by scoring two low goals fifteen minutes into the second half to widen the gap 3-0.
Following another UD goal, Howard aimed to lessen the deficit, with their next opportunity coming in the 82nd minute when
Zach Simmons took a low shot that was caught by the keep.
Mims led the Bison, taking three shots on target. Kieller made five saves.
The Bison return to the playing field on Saturday, September 20th, when they challenge VMI at 3 PM in Lexington, Va.
