WASHINGTON (August 21, 2025) - Howard University men's soccer (0-1) started the season on the road, falling, 2-1, to UNC Asheville (1-0) Thursday evening.
The Bulldogs scored back-to-back goals within the first 11 minutes for a quick 2-0 lead.
Howard's defense kept the Bulldogs in their cage, shutting down six shots in the first half and an additional nine after intermission.
After catching his breath on the bench, standout
Daniil Kaban (Ukraine) came back into the match with eight minutes to spare in the second half. With an assist from junior midfielder
Onarae Rice (Greenville, S.C.), the sophomore forward netted the Bison's lone goal seconds after returning to the pitch for a 2-1 score.
Howard managed four shots in the opener with redshirt freshman
Naim Robinson (Detroit) leading the charge, attempting two shots in his collegiate debut.
In goal, junior keeper
Ireal Wyze-Daly (Canada) recorded two saves in 90 minutes.
The Bison's home opener is Sunday, August 24, when they host San Diego State at noon inside Greene Stadium and will be live streamed on NEC Front Row.
