WASHINGTON (August 14, 2025) - Howard University women's soccer returned to Greene Stadium Thursday night - opening the season with a 2-0 loss to the University of North Florida (UNF).
Reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Goalkeeper of the Year
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) recorded her first save of the season just shy of five minutes into the match.
The Bison continued to keep UNF in their cage, blocking a shot down the middle in the 14
th minute.
After falling short on their first four attempts, the Ospreys opened the scoring three minutes later with a shot to the lower right corner, 1-0.
While Knox recorded two more saves in the half,
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) and
Jaileen De Freitas (Miramar, Fla.) made two more attempts at joining the scoreboard but could not connect with the net.
UNF managed to get seven shots off in the second half before getting the ball across the line for a 2-0 lead.
Six Bison recorded shots while Garcia-Terrell, the 2024 NEC Rookie of the Year, led the way with three attempts (one on goal).
Knox finished the night with seven saves through 90 minutes of play.
The Bison are back in action Sunday, August 17, at Audi Field as they face Hampton University in the HBCU Soccer Invitational. Kickoff at 3 p.m.
