BALTIMORE (April 16, 2025) – Howard University men's tennis team came up short at Morgan State (MSU), falling to the Bears, 5-2, in Baltimore.
Senior
Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) and second-year Bison
Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) served as the club's top doubles team where they took down the Bears' Mikeal Carpenter and Makkijha Brown in a highly, competitive match, 7-6 [7-4].
Despite their victory, MSU (7-14, 2-3 MEAC) won the other two doubles contests to take a 1-0 match lead into singles play.
In singles competition, sophomore
Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.) and freshman standout
Kaosie Nwokedi (Charlotte, N.C.) won their respective matches in three sets.
Sophomore
Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, N.C.) dropped a hard-fought three-set match to Morgan State's Niles Rachai (7-5, 3-6, 0-1 [8-6]).
MSU won the other three singles matches in straight sets.
Saturday (April 19), HU (5-13, 0-4 MEAC) closes out the regular season versus Coppin State on Senior Day. Match time is slated for 2 p.m., at Banneker Recreation Center.
