SYRACUSE, N.Y. (April 12, 2025) – Howard University women's lacrosse team fell behind early and never recovered, dropping a 19-5 decision at Le Moyne College (LMC).
Graduate attacker
Sawyer Walker (Magnolia, Del.) headlined the afternoon despite the setback, reaching 100 draw controls in a single season. The Delaware native finished with 13 draw controls against Le Moyne.
LMC (4-10, 3-4 NEC) held a 9-0 advantage after 15 minutes of play and never looked back.
In the second period, graduate attacker
Sawyer Walker (Magnolia, Del.) ended HU's scoring drought with an unassisted goal, 9-1, but Le Moyne kept the pressure on.
LMC scored six times in the second quarter, taking a 15-1 lead into halftime.
After intermission, the Bison battled back with three unassisted goals from Walker and freshmen
Adriyana Garrison (Wilmington, D.C.) and
Kyla Newkirk (Durham, N.C.).
In the final frame, third-year Bison
Chase Coleman (Houston) recorded her fourth goal of the season.
Sophomore midfielder
Cecilia Vitti (Detroit) notched two ground balls and two caused turnovers while rookie goalie
Taylor Williams (West Chester, Pa.) produced eight saves in the loss.
Bella Sampo led the Dolphins with seven points (four goals & three assists) in Saturday's victory.
Howard wraps up its road slate at Wagner Saturday (April 19). Match time is set for noon.
