LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 8, 2025) – Howard University women's track & field squad put on a dominant performance at the inaugural HBCU Indoor Championships in Louisville, Ky., hosted by Kentucky State University.
Collectively, HU secured 11 victories on the afternoon.
On the track, graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) and senior
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) led the charge with a pair of wins. Sey won the 60-meter dash (7.46) and 60-meter hurdles (8.29) while the Louisiana native was victorious in the mile run (5:26.76) and 3K run (10:40.28).
Second-year Bison
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and DMV native
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) placed first (23.91) and second (24.72), respectively, in the 200-meter dash.
Junior
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) and rookie
Cenaiya Billups (Denver) took gold (56.06) and silver (56.71), respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Junior
Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.) also competed in the race, earning fifth overall (57.14).
Newcomer
Tiffany Mugubi (Houston), senior
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) and freshman
Kendall Robinson (Bowie, Md.) swept the 800-meter run podium, claiming first (2:13.15), second (2:14.47) and third (2:17.64), respectively.
Billups, Lawson, Mugubi and Turner represented Bison Nation in the 4x400 relay, winning the race with a 3:53.48 time.
In the field, junior
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and senior
Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor, Ill.) placed first (5.34 meters) and second (5.30 meters), respectively, in the long jump.
Graduate
Nneka Ezeama (Smithfield, R.I.) won the shot put (14.08 meters) while junior
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) claimed gold in the weight throw (17.74 meters).
HU shifts its focus to the outdoor season with the first meet in Tampa, Fla., at the annual USF Alumni Invitational (March 21-22), hosted by the Bulls.
