FARMVILLE, Va. (March 23, 2025) – After a dominating home win over Wagner College Saturday (March 22), the Howard University men's tennis team was unable to sustain its momentum Sunday morning, falling on the road at Longwood (LU), 4-1.
Freshman standout
Kaosie Nwokedi (Charlotte, N.C.) scored the lone point for HU, defeating LU's Petar Belosevic in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
Second-year Bison
Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.) dropped game one to Longwood's Ian Perl, 2-6, but bounced back to take a 4-1 lead into the second frame before the match was denoted unfinished.
LU won the other three singles contests in straight sets.
Howard dropped all three doubles matches, but not without a fight. LU won each matchup, 7-6 [7-5], 7-6 [13-11] & 7-5.
On March 28-30, Howard (4-8) returns to The District to host this year's MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Round Up. HU squares off against Norfolk State (March 28), South Carolina State (March 29) and North Carolina Central (March 30).
