Lacrosse’s Comeback Bid Falls Short at FDU

Bison second half charge not enough

TEANECK, N.J. (March 22, 2025) – Howard University women's lacrosse team fell on the road at FDU, 17-8, despite a second-half charge.
 
Offensive, six Bison scored in the contest with graduate attacker Sawyer Walker (Magnolia, Del.) leading the way with four goals. The Delaware native also registered eight draw contests in the setback.
 
Walker scored HU's first goal in the opening frame, but the Knights held a 4-1 lead after one.
 
FDU (2-7, 1-1 NEC) increased its margin in the second quarter, taking a 10-2 advantage into the locker room.
 
After intermission, Howard exploded for five goals in the third period with Walker scoring twice in the quarter. HU trailed, 13-7, going into the fourth frame.
 
FDU answered in the fourth quarter, tallying four goals while holding the Bison attack to only one goal in the period.
 
Rookie midfielder Leah Croom (Miami) notched five draw controls while third-year Bison Chase Coleman (Houston) added two draw controls and two ground balls in the loss.
 
Defensively, freshman goalie Madeline Willocks (Freeport, N.Y.) had nine saves in the cage.
 
For FDU, Adriana Mavlios posted six points (four assists & two goals) while Brielle McInaw recorded five points (three goals & two assists) and five draw controls in the victory.
 
Howard (0-8, 0-2 NEC) returns home for a conference matchup against Delaware State Wednesday (March 26). Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Greene Stadium with live coverage on NEC Front Row.
