MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 2, 2025) – Second-year Bison
Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.) scored the lone point in Sunday's setback for the Howard University men's tennis team. HU fell on the road at Eastern Florida State College (EFSC), 6-1, in Melbourne, Fla.
Yon won a hard-fought three set match over EFSC's Konstantin Kukaras (1-6, 6-3, 1-0 [10-6]). The victory extended his singles win streak to two contests.
Rookie
Kaosie Nwokedi (Charlotte, N.C.) dropped a tough three-set showdown with the Titans' Alberto Perez Mellado (3-6, 7-6 [10-3], 3-6).
Eastern Florida State won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles competition, the Titans defeated HU in all three matchups.
HU has another extended break, not playing until March 14 against Harford C.C., at Banneker Recreation Center. First-serve at 2:30 p.m.
