WASHINGTON (February 7, 2025) – Howard University sophomore
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned her first singles win of the season in the team loss to Temple (TU), 4-1, at the WTEF (Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's) East Capitol Campus in southeast D.C.
Jean, reigning MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Year, represented Bison Nation in the No. 3 slot where she won a hard-fought three set contest over the Owls' Maria Martinez (7-5, 3-6, 10-8).
Senior
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) forced a three-set match against Temple's Irmark Ozturk before coming up short (4-6, 6-3, 5-10).
TU won two more singles matches in straight sets.
Temple controlled the tempo in doubles competition, winning two-out-of-three.
Saturday (Feb. 8), HU faces Maryland in College Park, Md. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
