WASHINGTON (February 7, 2025) – Howard University men's tennis squad dropped a tough home bout to Temple (TU), 4-1 at the WTEF (Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's) East Capitol Campus in southeast D.C.
 
HU found success in doubles competition despite the setback, winning a pair of matchups to grab the early match lead, 1-0.
 
Senior 
Marcel Dawson (Columbia, Ga.) and reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week 
Kaosie Nwokedi defeated Temple's Dante Russo and Maj Najvirt Kolaric, 6-3.
 
Senior 
Daniel Dunac (Washington) and second-year Bison 
Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.) knocked off the Owls' Pranav Nemani and Harshith Pennabadi in the No. 3 slot, 6-3.
 
Sophomores 
Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) and 
Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, N.C.) served as the team's top doubles team where they held a 5-3 lead before the match was unfinished.
 
TU rebounded in singles play, earning four victories, but not without a fight.
 
Major played in the No. 2 singles position where he fell in three sets to the Owls' Adam Kresina (6-3, 1-6, 0-1 [10-7]).
 
Nwokedi forced a third set against Nemani before the match was unfinished.
 
Saturday (Feb. 15), both clubs square off against crosstown rival UDC at the WTEF East Capitol Campus. Match time at 12:30 p.m.
