WASHINGTON (February 14, 2025) – Howard University women's tennis team secured its first win of the season, taking down the Villanova Wildcats, 4-2, at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus in southeast D.C.
 
HU (1-3) grabbed the upper hand early, winning a pair of doubles matches.
 
Senior Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) and reigning MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Year sophomore Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) represented Bison Nation in the No. 1 spot, defeating the Wildcats' Sophia Edwards and Lauren Monti, 6-1.
 
Senior Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and second-year Bison Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) won a hard-fought victory over Villanova's Maggie Gehrig and Olivia Corcoran, 7-5.
 
Chambers, senior Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and junior Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) locked up the match win, earning singles victories in straight sets.
 
Both teams play the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Saturday (Feb. 15) at 5:45 p.m., at Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro, Md.
