Track & Field Closes Out Regular Season at the Windy City Invite

Bison’s final tune-up before championships

WASHINGTON (February 13, 2025) – Howard University track & field program closes out its indoor regular season in Chicago for the annual Windy City Invitational, hosted by the Wisconsin Badgers. The two-day event (Feb. 14-15) takes place at Gately Stadium.

The Windy City Invite features more than a dozen institutions across the country.
 
Entering the final test before championship season, several Bison look to peak at the right time.
 
On the men's side, fifth-year Bison Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) is among the top short hurdlers (60-meter) in the country with a conference-best time of 7.82 (49th in the nation).
 
For the women, graduate Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom), two-time MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Track Athlete of the Week, ran a MEAC-best 8.13 in the 60-meter hurdles, ranking 13th in the country.
 
Recently, the league uncovered its women's track & field weekly awards where junior thrower Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) won MEAC Field Athlete of the Week.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Saturday (Feb. 8), HU took part in the Penn Classic, hosted by the Quakers, where several Bison found success in the City of Brotherly Love.
 
On the women's side, junior Sanaa Morris (Bermuda) and rookies Brooke Cochran (Silver Spring, Md.), Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) and Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) represented Bison Nation in the 4x400 relay, earning third overall with a 3:45.58 mark.
 
In the field, Banwo grabbed fourth place in the weight throw (16.19 meters) and shot put (14.19 meters).
 
For the men, junior Jorim Bangue (Yaounde, Cameroon) and newcomer Justin Watterson (Las Vegas) secured third (7.93) and fifth (8.02), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.
 
Junior Andre Prince (Windsor, Conn.) received fourth place in the weight throw, tossing 17.67 meters.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Feb. 23-24, Howard goes to Virginia Beach, Va., for the 2025 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
