NORFOLK, Va. (February 10, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its softball weekly awards where Howard University saw newcomer
Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) take home the league's Rookie of the Week. The announcement came Monday.
Jones led the Bison to a 2-1 mark at the Runnin' Bulldog Classic (Feb. 7-8), hosted by Gardner-Webb, where she batted .714 with five hits, five total bases and two walks during the three-game span.

Ameenah Ballenger (Lansdown, Pa.) received honorable mention in her Bison debut, dominating the circle and plate. The Pennsylvania native threw 13.1 innings while going 4-of-9 with four RBIs.
South Carolina State junior Taylor Ames-Alexander was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Bulldog Ciara Farrar grabbed the conference's Pitcher of the Week.
On Feb. 14-16, Howard goes to Atlanta for the HBCU Invitational where they will face five opponents from the Southwest Athletic Conference.
