Harris Leads Men’s Hoops Balanced Attack in Win Over UDC

Bison eclipsed century mark against Firebirds

WASHINGTON (November 6, 2025) - Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored a game-high 20 points to lead four players in double figures as the Howard University men's basketball team rolled to a 103-71 win over the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in a nonconference matchup at Burr Gymnasium.

A 6-foot-4 graduate guard, Harris connected on 5-of-7 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from three-point range, while just missing a double-double with eight rebounds.

The Bison (1-1) were coming off an 87-66 home loss to the University of Missouri in its home opener Monday (Nov. 3). The hosts wasted little time to make a statement, bolting out to a 60-33 halftime lead and cruising from there.

Cam Gillus (Falls Church, Va.), a junior guard transfer, had an outstanding performance with 18 points, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor, including two three-pointers. The Virginia native, who played locally at Sidwell Friends before going to Lehigh, also grabbed five rebounds and dealt out four assists in 26 minutes of play.

Howard shot 52-percent (10-of-19) from beyond the arc with junior guard Alex Cotton (Carrollton, Texas) continuing to display the marksmanship that figures to be a part of the Bison's push for a successful season.

Freshman center Danas Kazakevicius (Vilnius, Lithuania) got into the act with 12 points and a team-high five assists.

The Firebirds, from the East Coast Conference, were playing their first game of the season.

UDC (0-1) shot a sizzling 88-percent from the free throw line (29-of-33) but missed 11-of-13 three-point attempts and was outrebounded, 36-22.

The Firebirds got an outstanding game from reserve center Oliver Spence, who led his team with 19 points, connecting on 5-of-7 from the field and a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. Michael Harrell chipped in with 15 points in a losing cause.

NEXT UP: Howard will look to win its second in a row when it hosts Grambling State University Sunday (Nov. 9) at 6 p.m., inside The Burr.
