EMMITTSBURG, Md. (November 29, 2025) — Howard University men's basketball team placed five Bison in double figures and rebounded from a double-digit deficit but came up just short, 79-75, at Mount St. Mary's in a nonconference battle inside Knott Arena.
The Bison fell behind double-digits start the game, 22-9, but rallied on a 10-0 run late in the first half to cut the deficit to a one-possession game at the half, 45-43.
In the second half, Howard continued to battle and keep withing striking distance, but the Mount (2-6) had an answer. It did not help that 38-percent (26-of-68) from the floor and 28-percent from the three-point line (8-of-29), including a frigid 2-of-16 after intermissions.
Meanwhile, Mount St. Mary's had its best shooting effort of the season, connecting on 52-percent from the floor (29-of-56), including 44-percent from beyond the arc (8-of-18).
Guard
Alex Cotton (Carrollton, Texas) led Howard with 15 points, but the junior sharpshooter had his worst shooting performance on the season, connecting on only 5-of-15, including 3-of-11 from his specialty area.
Team-leading scorer graduate guard
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) had his season-low 13 points, missing 12-of-16 from the field and only 1-of-6 from three-point range. The MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Year candidate still grabbed five rebounds while adding two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
Junior guard
Cam Gillus (Falls Church, Va.) had one of his best all-around efforts in a Bison uniform with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Freshman center
Danas Kazakevicius (Vilnius, Lithuania) came out of his recent slump with 13 points and seven rebounds while sophomore forward
Travelle Bryson (Anderson, S.C.) had another of his solid efforts with 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.
On the flip side, the Bison continue to take care of the basketball as they committed only six turnovers while turning 15 of the Mount's miscues into 19 points.
Mount St. Mary's was led by Justin Amadi with a game-high 21 points, Luke McEldon (15 points & 9 rebounds) and Arlandus Keyes (14 points).
This has become an annual battle between the two schools. The teams have split the last four meetings and the last five have been settled by a total of 15 total points.
