WASHINGTON (November 23, 2025) – Senior forward
Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) recorded yet another double-double, redshirt junior guard
Zoe Stewart (Terre Haute, Ind.) chipped in with 16 points and freshman guard
Emma NuQuay (Waldorf, Md.) contributed 11 points off the bench to help the Howard University women's basketball team defeat William & Mary, 64-53, in a nonconference showdown at Burr Gymnasium.
The win was the sixth of the season for the streaking Bison (6-1), who are having their best start in years.
A leading candidate for MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Year, Thomas continues to dominate, game in and game out. The 6-foot-2 senior finished with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, also a game high. Thomas was especially effective in the post area where she converted 7-of-10 from the free throw line while adding two assists, two steals and two blocked shots to her stat line.
The Bison led the entire game, jumping out to a sizeable lead before William & Mary rallied to cut the deficit to three in the fourth quarter, but with Stewart hitting on 6-of-10 from the floor, Howard was able to stave off the visitors rally and secure their sixth victory of the season.
The formula for the team's early success has been the consistent scoring of Thomas and its vaunted defense. For the game, Howard forced the Tribe to miss 16-of-20 three pointers taken, while turning them over 22 times, which they converted into 22 points.
The Bison also recorded 13 steals and, as they have all season, took care of the basketball (only 10 turnovers).
William & Mary (1-4) was led by Cassidy Geddes with 17 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Monet Dance (12 points) and Kyah Smith (9 points) in a losing cause.
NEXT UP: Howard travels to West Lafayette, IN to take on the Boilermakers of Purdue on Wednesday. Tipoff is at 12 noon.
