Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) scored a team-high 15 points and fellow classmate
Nile Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) added 11 points to help the Howard University women's basketball hold off George Washington University (GW), 62-60, in a crosstown nonconference clash at the Smith Center.
The senior forward duo continues to show why they were both named to the preseason All-MEAC First Team. The tandem combined for 9-of-13 shooting from the floor. Thomas, in particular, has proven to be a formidable presence, as she converted on 5-of-6 from the floor. Miller, regarded as one of the top defenders in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), added six rebounds and three blocked shots to her stat line.
But the Bison (3-0), who are off to one of their best starts in recent years, again got positive production their bench.

Destiny Bynum-Johnson (Newark, N.J.) grabbed six rebounds and fellow classmate
Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) added an important seven points and three rebounds in 10 minutes of play to keep the hosts at bay.
Redshirt junior guard
Zoe Stewart (Terre Haute, Ind.) also got into the act with six points.
For the game, Howard missed 14-of-its-16 three-point attempts, but they went to the charity stripe 26 times, 10 more than the Revolutionaries and that may have been the difference in the game.
George Washington (1-2) got 15 points from Gabby Reynolds and 13 points from Jaeda Wilson in a losing cause.
NEXT UP: The Bison will look to remain unbeaten when they travel to Elon, N.C., to play Elon University Saturday (Nov. 15) at 5 p.m.
