ELON, N.C. (November 15, 2025) – Freshman guard
Ariella Henigan (Chicago) came off the bench to score a game-high 14 points and senior forward
Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) recorded her first double-double (12 points & 10 rebounds) of the season to lift the Howard University women's basketball team to a 56-46 road win at Elon University in a nonconference game at the Schar Center.
Henigan was 5-of-15 from the field and helped the Bison's third-quarter push.
The two teams played to an even 15-15 first quarter.
Howard (4-0) was able to take a slight 26-24 lead at the half. Then the Bison defense, which has played well this season, created some separation in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts, 15-8, while limiting the Phoenix to 20-percent (3-of-15) from the field, including 1-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Thomas, a preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, was 5-of-7 from the field but showed her overall improvement by dishing out a career-high four assists and getting two steals to fuel the victory.
Senior forward
Nile Miller (Woodbury, N.J.), another preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, made her imprint on the game with eight points, six rebounds and four steals.
Junior forward
Sa'lah Hemingway (San Bernardino, Calif.) added seven points and three rebounds in 10 minutes of play off the bench as the Bison outscored their counterpart reserves, 25-14.
Elon (2-2) was led by LaNae Corbett with 13 points and former Howard guard
Tyana Walker, who scored nine points in a losing cause.
The 4-0 start is the best for the Howard program since 2004-05 when the team started the season with a 5-0 record under Cathy Parson.
NEXT UP: Howard continues its road trip when it travels to Richmond, Va., Monday (Nov. 17) to play the Rams of VCU. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
