NORFOLK, Va. (October 8, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men's basketball preseason order of prediction where Howard University was projected to finish second in the league's preseason poll. The announcement came during the annual conference's Media Day.
Howard racked up 97 points with four first-place votes.
Reigning MEAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Norfolk State was picked first after recording 118 points, including 12 first-place votes.
Furthermore, the conference uncovered its preseason honors where three Bison received recognition: graduate
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) and juniors
Cam Gillus (Falls Church, Va.) and
Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta).
Last season, Harris played only seven games due to a season-ending injury. Before the injury, he was named MEAC Preseason Player of the Year and made the Lou Henson Early Season Watch List.
A year ago, Gillus started 29 games at Lehigh where he led the squad in total steals (37). On Feb. 1, he recorded his first career double-double (16 points & 10 rebounds) against Holy Cross.
Taylor enters his first season as a Bison after two productive seasons at Morehouse College. Last season, he was selected to the All-SIAC First Team while ranking among the league leaders in several categories.
South Carolina State's Jayden Johnson was named 2025-26 MEAC Preseason Player of the Year.
All awards were voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
On Nov. 3, HU opens the new season versus Missouri inside The Burr.
