WASHINGTON (October 16, 2025) — Howard University men's soccer team (3-9-1, 2-3-0 NEC) continued its midseason surge with a commanding 4-1 win over Chicago State (1-11-0, 1-3-0 NEC) Thursday night in Greene Stadium.
 
The Bison struck twice in each half, led by a balanced attack featuring four different goal scorers to secure their second consecutive NEC victory.
 
Howard wasted no time asserting control, opening the scoring as they approached the 13^th minute when sophomore forward Daniil Kaban (Kharkiv, Ukraine) finished from close range off a feed from Rayce Welborne (Lawrenceville, N.J.).
 
The Bison continued to press and in the 37^th minute, senior Jude Spallinger (Bluffton, Ohio) doubled the advantage—his first collegiate goal—after a precise setup from Naim Robinson (Detroit).
 
Despite Howard's early dominance, the visitors pulled one back just before the break as Owen Santos converted in the 43^rd minute to make it 2-1 heading into halftime.
 
After the break, Howard's attack picked up right where it left off. The Bison dominated possession, earning a flurry of corner kicks that eventually led to a pair of decisive goals.
 
In the 69^th minute, Roman Stallings (Tyrone, Ga.) extended the lead, 3-1, finishing a well-placed pass from Zach Simmons (Rockwall, Texas).
 
Just four minutes later, the duo linked up again as Simmons delivered another pinpoint assist, this time finding Robinson, who slotted home from close range to make it 4-1.
 
The scoreline reflected Howard's control of the half, as the Bison outshot the Cougars, 8-5, in the second half while generating 10 of their 11 corner kicks.
 
Howard's defense closed the door from there, anchored by Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.), who finished with four saves on the day.
 
The Bison are back in action Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m., when they host conference leader Saint Francis.
