WASHINGTON (January 24, 2025) – Howard University men's tennis squad dropped its season opener, 7-0, versus crosstown rival Georgetown (GU) at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus in southeast D.C.
Sophomores
Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) and
Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, N.C.) served as HU's top doubles team, falling to the Hoyas' Jake Fellows and Arthur O'Sullivan, 6-2.
Georgetown won the other two doubles contests to take a 1-0 match lead into singles play.
In singles competition, Major competed in the top spot for HU where he came up short to Fellows in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).
GU took the other five singles matches.
The men's team is back in action with back-to-back matches versus Loyola (Md.) Friday (Jan. 31) and at Delaware (Feb. 1).
