CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (September 8, 2024) – No. 4 Virginia (UVA) scored three times after intermission to down the Howard University women's soccer team, 4-0, in Charlottesville, Va.
With the setback, HU dropped to 1-3-3 while the Cavs remained unbeaten entering conference play (7-0).
In their toughest challenge of the season, the Bison were unable to crack UVA's backline.
For the Cavs, they took 33 shots, including 18 in the second period.
Despite being under distress throughout the afternoon, reigning Northeast Conference Goalie of the Year sophomore
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) battled while racking up 11 saves.
After taking a 1-0 halftime lead, thanks to a goal from Samar Guidry, Virginia kept the pressure on.
UVA's Ella Carter extended the lead at the 55-minute mark, 2-0, followed by another score from Kiki Maki ('73), 3-0.
With less than five minutes left, Allie Ross added an insurance goal, 4-0.
On Sept. 12, Howard continues its road trip where they face off against Longwood in Farmville, Va. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.
