Christian Spearheads Men’s Soccer Comeback

Late Goal Spoils Bison Rally

FAIRFAX, Va. (September 7, 2024) – Howard University men's soccer fell to George Mason (GMU), 4-3, after a late goal spoiled a thrilling comeback.

HU (0-3) started its attack by getting two shots off in the first few minutes while the Bison defense worked to keep the Patriots (4-0) at bay, allowing only three shots through the first 22 minutes.

At the 27-minutes mark, GMU got on the board first, followed by two more scores before intermission, 3-0.

With halftime looming, team captain senior Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) found Naim Robinson (Detroit) at the 44-minute mark, trimming the deficit, 3-1.

Graduate Mason Christian (Fulton, Md.) opened the scoring in the second half when he connected with a pass from newcomer Kuba Cihak (Prague, Czech Republic) one minute into the final period, 3-2.

Threatening George Mason's unblemished record, the grad forward continued his attack four minutes later with an assist from junior midfielder Roman Stallings (Tyrone, Ga.) and tied the contest, 3-3.

The Patriots claimed the win in the 88th minute with a shot deflected off a defending Bison, 4-3.

Redshirt freshman keeper Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.) recorded four saves through 90 minutes.

The Bison finish their four-game road slate in Lexington, Va., Saturday (September 14) at 4 p.m., with a matchup against VMI.
