LEXINGTON, Va. (September 14, 2024) – Howard University men's soccer team wrapped up its four-match road swing with a tough 2-1 loss at VMI (Virginia Military Institute) in Lexington, Va.
HU outshot the Keydets, 16-14, and took more corners, 6-5.
Despite outplaying VMI the first 45 minutes of play, Howard found itself trailing at the 59-minute mark, thanks to a goal from Anthony Huang, 1-0.
Three minutes later, rookie
Daniil Kaban (Kharkiv, Ukraine) found All-NEC selection
Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) for his first goal of the year to tie the contest, 1-1.
With time dwindling, Kyle Grant delivered the match-winning goal to propel VMI over Howard, 2-1.
Redshirt freshman goalie
Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.) finished with three saves in a losing effort.
On Sept. 21, Howard will be hosting UC San Diego in its home opener. Match time is slated for 2 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
