WASHINGTON (September 5, 2024) – Howard University women's soccer bounced back to notch its third tie of the season Thursday night against crosstown rival George Washington (GW) at Greene Stadium, 2-2.
The stalemate moved the Bison to a 1-2-3 record while the Revolutionaries dropped to 1-3-2 on the season.
With a scoreless first half winding down, GW sophomore Alexa Meinen threaded a shot to the net with a second to spare, boasting the Revolutionaries to a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Fighting to bounce back, the Bison evened the score 10 minutes into the second half when redshirt junior
Rachel Suttle (Smyrna, Ga.) connected with a cross from standout forward
Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.), scoring her first goal of the season, 1-1.
GW regained the lead in the 72-minute mark with a shot to the low right corner of the net, 2-1.
With less than 30 seconds in the game, sophomore
Samantha James (Herndon, Va.) sent a pass to senior forward
Kyra Bolden (Mclean, Va.) to score the equalizer, 2-2.
Six Bison took attempts at the net with first-year forward
Gabrielle Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) leading the charge with five shots.

Trinity Knox (Atlanta) recorded six saves through 90 minutes of play.
The Bison are back in action Sunday, September 7 at 2 p.m., when they face the national-ranked Virginia on the road.
