GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (September 11, 2024) – Howard University women's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the fall, competing in the prestigious Folds of Honor Collegiate, hosted by Michigan State University in Grand Haven, Mich.
Overall, the Bison shot 57-over par (921) while taking 12
th place. HU's best round came on the final day, recording 303 strokes (+15).
All-NEC selection senior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) led the way, finishing 10-over par (226) while tying for 29
th in the player leaderboard. In the opening round, she shot 1-under par (71) and placed in the top 5.
Newcomer
Alaythia Hinds made her Bison debut, shooting 230 (+14) and tying for 37
th overall.
Third-year Bison
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) ended the weekend tying for 41
st after posting a 231 (+15) in three rounds of play.
Arizona won the 2024 Folds of Honor Collegiate, registering 4-over par (868) in 54 holes. Florida State (FSU) finished runner-up, three strokes behind the Wildcats (871, +7).
Individually, FSU's Mirabel Ting took home the individual medal after firing 6-under par (220), two strokes better than Arizona's Carolina Melgrati (212, -4).
HU continues its fall season in Columbia, Mo., at the annual Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by Mizzou.
