HOWARD
Thursday (Aug. 15), Howard opened the season with a 4-2 victory over Saint Peter's at Greene Stadium.
HU comes into the 2024 season looking to challenge for the Northeast Conference (NEC) title.
The squad features a nice combination of seasoned veterans and youth, led by All-NEC First Team selection senior forward
Melea Earley (La Mirada, Calif.), sophomore midfielder
Samantha James (Herndon, Va.) and reigning NEC Goalie of the Year sophomore
Trinity Knox (Atlanta).
The Bison have been picked to finish third in the preseason, led by longtime head coach
Brent Leiba, who is entering his 15th year.
HAMPTON
Opening Night (Aug. 15), Hampton (0-1) fell on the road at Mount St. Mary's, 4-0. In the setback, the squad took nine shots, including seven after intermission.
Entering the season, head coach Scot Vorwold brought in 13 signees. The young club is projected to finish 13
th in the CAA (Coastal Athletic Association).
LAST TIMEOUT
On Aug. 15, Howard kicked the season off on a high note, downing the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 4-2, in Thursday night's opener at Greene Stadium.
Sophomore forward
Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.) led the way with a pair of goals.
Newcomer
Hailey Ayers (Lorton, Va.) found her footing in goal, registering three saves in the second half while facing six shots.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Thursday (Aug. 22), the Bison return to Greene Stadium to host George Mason in a nonconference showdown on International night. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
