GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 18, 2024) – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Committee uncovered its 2023-24 Track & Field/Cross Country Division I All-District Team where Howard University saw a pair of Bison recognized for their academic excellence inside the classroom. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
DMV natives
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) and
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) were selected for their academic success.
Drewery wrapped up his third year at The Mecca with his second straight trip to the NCAA Regionals. The two-time all-conference selection competed in the triple jump while recording a cumulative 3.85 grade point average (GPA) in strategic, legal & management communications.
For Pittman, she earned All-American honorable mention as a member of the 4x100 relay team. Individually, the seven-time all-conference selection took part in the NCAA East First Round prelims, running in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. The Biology major has compiled a 3.57 GPA after three seasons.
In May, both Bison were named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor All-Academic Team.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Track & Field/Cross Country teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Howard Director of Track & Field
David Oliver wrapped up his seventh season while sending seven Bison to Olympic trials for the upcoming 2024 Summer Games in Paris, France.
The program looks to build on this year's success as they look to bring home more conference titles during the 2024-25 campaign.
