NORFOLK, Va. (May 8, 2024) – Howard University men's track & field squad finished runner-up at the 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships, held on the campus of Norfolk State University (NSU) in Norfolk, Va.
Overall, the Bison tallied 136 points thru 21 scored events with a pair of victories on Day Three.
The 110-meter hurdles team headlined the day, sweeping the podium in dominant fashion. Graduate
Samuel Bennett (Langdon Hills, United Kingdom) took home the gold medal with a 13.59 mark. Seniors
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) and
Noah Langford (Portsmouth, Va.) earned second (13.68) and third (13.85), respectively.
Langford also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, winning with a 50.57 time.
Graduates
Goba Dan-Princewill (Houston) and
Ja'Leak Perry (Atlanta), sophomore
Adam Musgrove (Nassau, Bahamas) and rookie
Otto Laing (Freeport, Bahamas) represented Bison Nation in the 4x100 relay, taking silver with a 39.66 mark.
In the field, third-year Bison
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) claimed third place in the triple jump (15.58 meters).
Norfolk State won the 2024 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the third straight year, recording 204 points. NSU's Victor Jumo earned the league's Most Outstanding Runner while head coach Kenneth Giles grabbed Most Outstanding Coach. South Carolina State's Dexter Ratliff received the conference's Most Outstanding Field Performer.
On May 22-25, several Bison travel to Lexington, Ky., for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds.
