NORFOLK, Va. (May 6, 2024) – Howard University men's track & field team is tied for third after Day One of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships, hosted by Norfolk State University (NSU) in Norfolk, Va.
HU tallied 11 points during opening day, scoring in the high jump, discus and 10K run.
In the field, graduate
Danree Delancey (Bethel Town, Westmoreland) competed in the discus where he took fifth overall (43.34 meters), collecting four points for the Bison.
Third-year Bison
Eric Brown II (Raleigh, N.C.) leaped 1.93 meters in the high jump, producing two points with a seventh-place finish.
On the track, redshirt junior
Wendesen King (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) capped off the night with a fourth-place finish in the 10K race, scoring five points in 30:55.04.
Other notable performances on the track included senior
Noah Langford (Portsmouth, Va.) qualifying for the 400-meter hurdles final with an AQ mark of 51.35. Graduate
Ja'Leak Perry (Atlanta) made the 200-meter dash final, clocking in at a non-automatic qualifying time of 21.79.
NSU leads the field after Day One with 36 points, followed by North Carolina Central (26 points).
HU looks to move up the standings Tuesday (May 7) for Day Two of the MEAC Championships. The action starts 9 a.m., on the campus of NSU.
