WASHINGTON (April 6, 2024) – Howard University women's track & field won the Bison Classic for the second year in a row, dominating the competition on Senior Day.
Overall, the Bison produced 121.5 points while recording 10 victories.
On the track, junior
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) led the way with a pair of wins in the 800-meter run (2:21.45) and 1500-meter run (4:52.86).
HU dominated the 100-meter hurdles, placing in all five slots. Sophomore
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.) won the event with a 14.37 time.
Graduate
Cathrina Morris (Auburndale, Fla.) earned first overall in the 400-meter hurdles, registering a 1:02.48 time.
Junior
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.), sophomore
Sanaa Morris (Bermuda) and graduate
Dami Oyatayo (Tarzana, Calif.) swept the 400-meter dash, finishing first (57.64), second (58.19) and third (58.22), respectively.
Other noteworthy performance on the track included rookie
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) claiming the top spot in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.80 seconds.
In the field, junior
Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor, Ill.) and sophomore
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) placed first (5.49 meters) and second (5.42 meters), respectively, in the long jump.
Sophomore
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) grabbed gold in the shot put, tossing 12.55 meters. The Texas native also competed in the hammer, earning third place (36.95 meters). Fifth-year Bison
Erin Hatcher (Silver Spring, Md.) won the hammer (54.80 meters), followed by graduate
Zaria Opara (Carnation, Wash.) throwing 43.68 meters.
Other notable performance in the field included graduate
Minyarn Smalls winning the javelin (35.93 meters).
Gallaudet finished runner-up in the event after scoring 28.5 points.
During the event, Howard Director of Track & Field
David Oliver and the program recognized 11 Bison for their hard work and dedication, including Hatcher, Morris, Smalls,

Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.),

The Bison will travel to Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Invitational, hosted by Florida (April 12-13).
