NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (April 6, 2024) – Merrimack College (MC) took control early, scoring 11 goals in the first quarter, and never looked back, defeating the Howard University women's lacrosse team, 22-4, at Duane Stadium in North Andover, Mass.
MC (3-9, 3-3 NEC) got on the board first, but junior
Marley Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) responded to tie the contest, 1-1.
From that point on, the Warriors used a 10-1 run to take a commanding 11-2 advantage after one. Fifth-year Bison
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) scored the other goal in the first period.
Merrimack's momentum continued, holding HU scoreless in the next two quarters while tallying nine more scores, 20-2.
In the final frame,
Maya Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) and sophomore
Chase Coleman (Houston) each recorded goal.
Senior goalie
Zahria Liggans (Detroit) came off the bench after intermission, registering three saves in a losing effort.
For MC, Natalie Calkins notched five points (four goals and one assist) for the Warriors.
