CARY, N.C. (April 25, 2024) – No. 3 Howard University women's tennis team advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Semifinal Round after a 4-1 victory over No. 6 Norfolk State (NSU) at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
With the win, HU improved to 11-9 on the season while extending its win streak to a season-high four.
Howard grabbed the upper hand in doubles play, taking two-out-of-three from NSU.
Junior
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and second-year Bison
Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) served as the club's No. 2 doubles team, defeating the Spartans' Ioana Irina and Alessia Stan, 6-4.
South Florida natives junior
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines) and rookie
Dana Hall (Miami) rolled through the competition, blanking NSU's Isabella Cotrell and Sabina Maria Iurea, 6-0.
Grayson, All-MEAC selection junior
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) and MEAC Rookie of the Year
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won their respective singles matches in straight sets.
Norfolk State finished its 2024 campaign with a 2-17 mark.
Friday (April 26), Howard faces No. 2 Delaware State in the MEAC Semifinal Round. Match time is slated for 9 a.m., live on ESPN+.
