WASHINGTON (April 11, 2024) – Howard University track & field program travels south for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, hosted by Florida. The two-day meet (April 12-13) takes place at James G. Pressly Stadium on the Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Fla.
Friday's (April 12) action starts at noon while Saturday's (April13) start time is 9 a.m.

MEET PREVIEW
In the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Rating Index, the men's 110-meter hurdles squad remained the nation's top team for the second straight week.
On the men's side, graduate
Samuel Bennett (Langdon Hills, United Kingdom) spearheads the squad, holding the third-fastest mark in the country with a 13.39 time, which he set at the annual Texas Relays (March 27-30).
Entering the weekend, senior
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.), rookie
Otto Laing (Freeport, Bahamas) and fifth-year Bison
Darian Clyburn (Louisville, Ky.) rounds out the top 50, recording 13.83 (40
th), 13.88 (48
th) and 13.90 (50
th), respectively.
For the women's side,
Simone Watkins (Frisco, Texas) leads the 400-meter hurdles team with a 59.18 mark, which ranks 45
th in the country. Overall, the squad sits seventh in the nation.
LAST TIMEOUT
Both squads had success in the annual Bison Classic, co-hosted by HU and Gallaudet.
The women won the event, recording 10 victories, while the men's finished runner-up with five first-place finishes.

HU travels up the Beltway for a pair of meets in Baltimore: Morgan Legacy (April 19-20) and Loyola-Hopkins Invitational (April 20).
