WASHINGTON (March 9, 2024) – Howard University lacrosse (0-8) continues the search for its first win of the season after falling, 22-6, to Radford (2-5) Saturday afternoon.
Radford opened the scoring, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.
Taking advantage of being a man up, HU responded right after with a goal from
Chloe Ronsholdt (Stafford, Va.). Team captain
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) notched her first goal of the day, just seven seconds later to close the gap, 3-2.
The Highlanders continued to pull away, tacking on three more goals by the end of the quarter – not before transfer standout
Marley Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) posted the Bison's third goal for a 6-3 disadvantage.
Despite the weather, the second frame saw the most scoring action as the Bison slipped a goal in between a surge from Radford. The Highlanders inched away, posting nine goals to run the clock, 15-4.
Howard managed back-to-back goals late in the fourth when Skeete-Ridley connected with a pass from
Logan Ford (Charlotte, N.C.) before sending it to the net. Junior
Maya Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) seized her opportunity a minute later when she whizzed one by the Highlander in goal off a free position shot, 21-6.
Radford snuck in one final point to close out the match, 22-6.
The Bison are back in action March 16 at 11 a.m., when they face off against Long Island University (LIU) on the road.
